The Space Between Us is a Human Centred Digital platform for individuals to connect, relate and engage meaningfully with mental wellness tools. We provide guidance that is in tune with the African psyche.

Unlike traditional wellness providers and informal online communities, we offer quality clinical expert advice and provide access to a community of like-minded people with similar life experiences.

A Platform For Our Times

Our platform is not an intervention tool but forms part of everyday work, home and life in general. It is a technology enabled, built-for-purpose platform that provides access, community and engagement.

The Telkom Pilot

The Space Between Us partnered with the Telkom Group in April 2020 to pilot the psycho education solutions and build the technology platform powered by BCX.

The key objectives of the Pilot was to establish a learning environment where Telkom/BCX could test the operating platform for The Space Between Us Mental Health proposition in order to identify the framework and potential business cases that could support a successful implementation of a commercially viable Product / Service offering. The pilot will target 5000 Telkom Group employees.

Mental Health is at the core of every individual’s wellbeing. Our vision is to build a common language and an understanding that nurtures healing and provides tools to help navigate and enhance our mental health state.

To improve the quality of our mental health, it is important to examine the quality of our relationships. We believe that strengthening relationships between people will ensure that mental illness is pre-empted, healed and effectively managed.

The Team

Linda Mthenjane

Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Registered and Practicing Psychologist.

Linda Mthenjane holds an M.A in Clinical Psychology (UKZN) specialising in Couple and Family Therapy, a B.A Honours in Psychology and Social Anthropology (Wits) and a Business Strategy for HR Leaders (INSEAD).

Career Highlights:
Linda is a registered Clinical Psychologist whose purpose is to help people live their most connected lives. She is a passionate, practical thinker with over 20 years of experience as an Executive in Strategic Human Resources and a Clinical Psychologist in private practice. In the corporate world, she has proven her value as a strategic advisor and a problem-solver, leading teams of
up to 438 HR employees and managing budgets in excess of R300 million.

Career Aspirations:
Linda’s specialization is working with partners in conflict and trauma, families in contaminated spaces and couples in relationships. As well as working to educate us about the psychological impact of relationship dysfunction and healing.

Andrew Le Roux

Chief Financial Officer & Partner
Entrepreneur, Mentor and Consultant.

Andrew completed the General Management Program at the Harvard Business School in the USA, the Customised Old Mutual Course in Distributional Channels at INSEAD Business School in France and graduated with a BSc in Actuarial Science from Stellenbosch University in South Africa (Cum Laude).

Career Highlights:
Andrew’s career to date has given him a uniquely varied executive and technical experience in life insurance, unsecured lending, short-term insurance, and asset management. He has excelled in general management roles in a large established business unit in South Africa, led business units of the much smaller Namibian enterprises and started brand new businesses across emerging markets.

Career Aspirations:
Andrew believes that new technologies, leadership styles, ways of work and partnerships create exciting future opportunities that many corporates are not sufficiently embracing. So he looks forward to taking advantage of these opportunities for business to solve real problems in South Africa and the rest of Africa and to contribute to meaningful, bona fide transformation.

Sindiswa Giwu

Chief Operating Officer
Operations and Strategic Intelligence.

Sindiswa Giwu holds a Masters in Business Administration from UCT and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from the University of South Africa.

Career Highlights:
Sindiswa’s versatile skill set that has made her a valuable asset in Project Management, Operations Improvement, Process Optimization, Strategic Planning, Business Analysis, Client Service and Business Development. She has extensive business experience in Management Consulting, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Hospitality and Oil. She has also worked in the United Arab Emirates and Greece.

Career Aspirations:
Sindiswa is passionate about strategy, leadership, social development and active citizenship. Finding purpose and value in strategic thinking, active listening, systematic problem solving and nurturing relationships.

Desan Pillay

Chief Digital and Analytics Officer
Digital Transformation, Customer Experience, Data-driven turnaround strategist.

Desan Pillay holds a Bachelor Business Science, Honours in Finance, Strategy and Econometrics from the University of Natal, a CFA charter holder and MBA
from GIBS Business School.

Career Highlights:
He is a resilient, pro-active and results oriented strategist and hands-on leader. As the Founder and Managing Director of Power Patch Partners and Advisory, Desan has managed the delivery of several large-scale transformation
projects and solved critical business challenges to turnaround the businesses
across South Africa, East Africa, UAE and Turkey.

Career Aspirations:
Desan is passionate about sharing his advanced knowledge in Digital Innovation and Transformation with MBA students as a lecturer. His greatest ambition is to use this knowledge to solve African challenges and work
towards the transformation of continent.
